Orange Rockland Central meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in Walden, NY. Membership is not limited to the young men of Orange County and young men from surrounding counties are welcome to join. The only limitation is your ability to get to meetings and activities. Parents are welcome to stay for the meetings, and the advisors usually have refreshments available so that they don’t have to drive back and forth twice, but watch out… You might be drafted into our Parents Club!

We’re a new Chapter, remember? Now that we have enough members, we’re polishing our opening and closing rituals and the degree work. Candidates for DeMolay participate in induction ceremonies, called degrees, full of pageantry and meaning. It teaches us important lessons about character and the purposes of DeMolay. After that, you are considered a Brother and can participate fully in the Chapter. Until then, any interested young man between the ages of 12 and 21 is invited to stop by a meeting with his parents and meet us. You’ll get to know the guys, your parents can speak with the Advisors about DeMolay, and we’ll see what happens!

We mentioned before that the ritual is one of the things that sets us apart from other organizations for young men. The other big thing is that the DeMolays plan all of their own programs. Unlike other organizations whose adults lead and plan the meetings, DeMolays do this themselves under the guidance of the advisors. They guide, when asked, but don’t step in unless things are going REALLY off track, so sometimes we end up learning from our mistakes. That’s all part of the plan, though, as we learn to become better young men today and the leaders of tomorrow.
